Movie Review: Poseidon
Surprise! Yes, I'm back. I'm going to try and get my motivation back in blogging again. Nice to see you all again.
All right, now to reviewing the movie I saw tonight, Poseidon, which is a remake of the 1970s film, The Poseidon Adventure. Frankly, there's nothing really so special about this film. If you want to see the movie, I'd suggest you to rent it when it comes out on DVD. I'm not saying it's a terrible film -- it isn't. It's just nothing so special.
There's no story, no subplots. It's really all about nine people fighting for survival after a major rogue wave flipped the cruise over upside down, trying to get to the bottom of the boat which really has become the top and find a way out. That's it.
It's pretty much a mindless entertainment. It's nice to just sit back and just go along with the flow of the movie. The movie's good enough for one time viewing. "I enjoyed it, but it's a one-time thing, no desire to watch it again."
The characters were pretty one-dimensional. There really were not much of any background to these characters. The movie gets you to really focus on the rather consistent action - the GASP! the WHOA! and Oh-god-he's-not-gonna-make-it! moments. The only thing that I really took notice of a particular actor is that it's a surprise to see how old Richard Dreyfuss is!
I give it a C.
