Disney-Pixar

A few weeks ago, Disney bought Pixar. I'm not happy about that.

First, let me explain who Pixar is. Pixar is a computer animation studio who created several top-selling films: Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc. and The Incredibles.

Disney has always been responsible for the distribution of Pixar's films to movie theaters and onto DVD and VHS.

Now, that Disney has bought Pixar and my reaction to that was a rather dismayed one. You see, I really think Pixar can go out on their own because they have been so successful. Also, Disney has been taking credit for Pixar's success in creating hit films. I have had friends who would say, "Oh, you know that Disney movie... umm... (let's say) Finding Nemo?" and I'd correct them that it's a Pixar film, not Disney. Then explain to them that Disney is simply responsible for the distribution of these films.

Disney has bought Pixar -- would that mean people will now from on refer to any Pixar films, old and new, as Disney films?

The Pixar characters have already been Disneified. Monsters, Inc has their own ride in Dinsey's California Adventure. Finding Nemo is taking over both the old Sub Lagoon ride over Disneyland. (This is good news...the Subs have been out of service for many years...they are bringing the ride area back to life)Theres a Buzz Lightyear based ride over at Disney World, I believe. They are currently working on something for the Incredibles...but Disney wont say which park will get the Incredibles ride first.

That's my point. Disney has been taking credit of Pixar's creation. Disney did not in any way invent or create the characters, the stories, or the films. Pixar's films and its characters are so distinguished from these of Disney's - Pixar had its OWN identity. I want people to recognize that a CGI movie studio called Pixar do exist who worked very hard to show the world the amazing things they've done when it comes to tell an incredible story through computer animation.

Disney bought the rights to the Pixar characters and storylines so they can "brag" on how they own Pixar and stuff like that...thats one among the things I dont like about Disney...The company has become quite a monster, eating up many smaller companies.

Believe it or not, the folks of Pixar has been given an incredible opportunity...

What is it?

The power to be in control of the entire animation department of Disney. They even put a halt to the Disney production of DTV (direct to video) sequel to Toy Story. Toy Story 3 was recently transfered to the Pixar department from the Studio 7 department.

Don't be surprised if Toy Story 3 gets completely revamped and given a theatrical release. Toy Story 2 was originally planned as a DTV release too as well.

Not only that, Steve Jobs... the big man at Pixar is now Disney's single LARGEST shareholder. This is good news if you ask me.

Disney is going to enter a brand new revolution. It's very likely that Pixar will remains Pixar when it come to their movies.

I love Pixar for their creativity and I wish them the best in improving Disney and bringing it back to the ol' days of true Walt Disney entertainment. After all, Walt Disney was the inspiration for many animators at Pixar.

I personally dislike Disney as it is now thanks to the idiot, Michael Eisner who recently resigned... (hooray!).

But now that Pixar is taking over the animation department and with Steve Jobs being the biggest shareholder....

It may actually be for the best.

Oh Pixar's taking over Disney's animation department? Completely? So would that mean we'd not see Disney's own animated films? Live action films only for Disney?

i think pixar has got a good deal out of it. Disney gets an in-house animation team that actually sells. Pixar gets Disney's distribution network, which is Disney's main strength these days.

They did have a bit of falling out, so its nice to see they are friends again now too.
